RCS Clients Make a Splash at the 37th Annual Sports Emmy® Awards

Congrats to our friends at CBS Sports, MLB Network and Turner Network Television (TNT) Sports on your 37th Annual Sports Emmy® Award-wins!

Last night at the 37th Annual Sports Emmys, held in Lincoln Center’s Frederick P. Rose Hall in NYC, CBS Sports took home top honors for its Super Bowl 50 production, nabbing the coveted “Outstanding Live Sports Special” Award. Rounding out the evening, the network also earned “George Wensel Technical Achievement” and “Outstanding Technical Team Remote” Awards for its technical innovation on the production. For the fifth time in six years, MLB Network’s “MLB Tonight” won “Best Daily Studio Show,” while TNT swept graphics categories with award wins in “Live Graphic Design” and “Outstanding Studio Design/Art Direction.”

RCS had the pleasure collaborating with CBS Sports on the Super Bowl 50 Production, which was also nominated for an award in the “Outstanding Live Graphic Design” category. Prior to the big event, we worked with their team to develop a three-system Graphics Processing Interface (GPI) workflow designed to run flawlessly from hardware to software and onto the on-air scene on gameday. Our engineering team began to lay the groundwork last winter, setting up a test environment for R&D, with a goal of delivering the workflow for the first test in Denver during the Divisional Playoffs. We were on the ground to troubleshoot the system throughout the playoffs, as well as in Santa Clara the week of the big game to assist.

At the project’s completion, we’d developed more than 200 Viz scenes and 220 scripts, and front-end software that helped drive the live presentation for 10 hours of pre-game, live-game and post-game broadcasts. It’s an absolute honor to have been a part of such a groundbreaking production, and we can’t wait to see what CBS Sports has up its sleeve for next season’s NFL coverage.

We’re proud to work with such an amazing roster of clients who continually raise the bar in sports production. Congrats again on your well-deserved wins!
