MBC Pro Sports’ coverage of the 2015-2016 Saudi Arabian soccer season now features real-time player, team and match data; video replays; Tweets, telestrations; and analysis courtesy of RCS’ interactive touchscreen solution LaunchPad. The Dubai-based broadcaster is using the interactive, cloud-based technology to engage fans across highlights and review programming covering four competitions including the Saudi Pro League and Crown Prince Cup.

Powered by Vizrt’s Viz Engine, a third-party touchscreen, RCS software and RCS’s cloud database DataCenter, MBC’s LaunchPad culls stats from Opta data feeds; sorts and organizes the information; and makes it easy for MBC talent to access and share. Support for Vizrt Viz Libero 3D analysis software enables quick video clip access and playout, while fast-to-air Twitter integration, allows MBC to mine and display relevant Tweets.

RCS worked closely with MBC on Arabic translations ahead of the season, and built MBC’s existing graphics into LaunchPad scenes to ensure they matched its broadcast aesthetic. Our team also tailored LaunchPad so that MBC can populate scenes with sponsorship artwork – a first for the touchscreen. We’re continuing to update the system with a second phase of development already underway, which entails integrating the system with MBC’s Grass Valley K2 Dyno video server.
