In preparation for the 2014-2015 NHL season, RCS developed the first studio graphics package for our longtime friends at the NHL Network. To revamp the network’s weeknight pregame show “NHL Live,” our team designed custom, easy-to-use solutions for graphic implementation. Our hardware design consisted of a custom-built system with dual channel engines, a control PC and database. To enable content creation from anywhere within the NHLN’s New York studios, we designed a web portal that seamlessly integrates with Vizrt’s Trio for on-air playout. Any updates made in Trio are reflected instantaneously in the web portal – a truly symbiotic relationship! Our blend of both custom and off-the-shelf solutions for “NHL Live” was designed entirely by our team to best fit the production needs of the NHLN.

January 2013 also saw NHL Network debut Reality Check’s revolutionary RCS Scorebug software for branding clean feed games with NHL Network custom insert graphics. Going beyond operating the on-air bug, RCS Scorebug provides a variety of content layouts, from fullscreen to lower third to slider options.  In addition to managing text and visual displays, RCS Scorebug also enables interfaced roster, scoring, penalty, player and team statistical data.  Like the RCS Ticker system, RCS Scorebug is incorporated into the master control systems, while the operator manages control and coordination of the insert graphics locally.
