After the NCAA men’s basketball tournament was cancelled in 2020, Turner’s digital team had high hopes for the 2021 tournament and turned to RCS to help them actualize those. Using Singular, RCS built a set of around 20 graphics, from lower thirds, to bugs, to full screens. Turner used these graphics during post game press conferences and for their Final Four Watch Party shows. RCS also coordinated with Sportradar to access their March Madness API. Using that live data, RCS interfaced live data into all the graphics, using a workflow that that utilized AWS systems. To control and populate the graphics with data, RCS built a custom application called Cobb that was integrated with Singular. Using Cobb, Turner’s operators could easily select a specific game or player and pull up dozens of stat options for them. On top of that, RCS also developed an innovative new feature within Cobb that would allow graphics currently on air to automatically update to display the latest data, ensuring that team comparison and box score graphics that were on screen throughout Turner’s Final Four Watch Party show were always up to date.
