Long time client CBS Sports looked to Reality Check and Cake Studios to create a cohesive brand identity system for the expanded set of properties under the CBS Sports/CBS Sports Network umbrella. This new look launched for CBS Sports broadcast of Super Bowl XLVII. Following the Super Bowl this new identity reached across all brand touchpoints for CBS Sports, including network, cable, and online coverage of their high end properties NFL regular season, College Football, College Basketball, Tennis and Golf. On the CBS Sports Network cable side the cohesive look reaches across all their own properties and studio shows. A full insert system was created to bring the same design elements of the game packaging into intricate informational graphics across all platforms. Reality Check’s software department developed all the studio and remote front end control applications that interfaced real-time data from various providers like IDS, Stats Inc., Sports Media and NFL GSIS.

Bringing a new level of detail to CBS Sports’ golf broadcasts, RCS also implemented a customized wind tracker solution to accurately visualize the speed and direction of wind in real-time. Running on proprietary software developed by RCS, the application collects data from Maretron outdoor weather stations placed throughout each course and when prompted, automatically populates graphics on screen to illustrate the wind’s strength and impact on player shots. Having originally debuted at the 2014 AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-AM broadcast, the technology will be leveraged by CBS Sports for the remainder of the season.

RCS also collaborated with longtime partners Cake Studios and Hammerhead Graphics to design, build and animate more than 200 graphical elements for the first complete rebrand of CBS Sports’ Golf graphics package since 2006. Unveiled at the 2014 Farmers Insurance Open, the graphics will air across 22 different broadcasts this season.
